WHO WE SUPPORT

The Foundation Trustees regularly consider programs and initiatives that are consistent with the objects of the Foundation.

This occurs proactively and reactively. A major consideration in the allocation of Foundation monies is the assurance that the funds are almost wholly, if not completely directed to the area of need, and not spent on administration or funding programs. In this way, you can be sure that your contributions will go to those who need it most.

Examples of the organisations and initiatives that the Foundation supports include:

CENTRE 360

This is a specific initiative of St Francis Social Services. Centre 360 Youth and Family Service specialises in counselling, case work and early intervention to help disadvantaged young people working through family breakdown and/or mental health issues. The Foundation makes annual contributions to these causes.

HOUSE OF WELCOME

This is another specific initiative of St Francis Social Services.

The House of Welcome is located at Carramar NSW and provides support services including case work, employment assistance, English lessons and community programs for refugees, individuals and families who are seeking asylum.

The Foundation makes annual contributions to the provision of the house itself and the direct benefit of persons in need that drop in and participate in the programs offered.

GREENLIGHT MOVEMENT

This is another specific initiative of St Francis Social Services.

Greenlight Movement supports at-risk young people by facilitating a mentor relationship and access to a vehicle to assist young people to achieve their provisional driving licence.

The Foundation assists by contributing to the pool of costs to run this Movement.

THE BREAD & BUTTER PROJECT

This is Australia's first social enterprise bakery, and 100% of its profits are reinvested into baker training and employment pathways for refugees and asylum seekers in Sydney. It is running on a volunteer basis.

CANA COMMUNITIES

Cana Communities is a registered charity. Cana Communities is mostly run by volunteers, and is solely reliant on donations from the community.  Cana runs crisis shelters and offers hospitality to those on the streets, those recently released from prison and those feeling lonely and forgotten.

It coordinates a farm at Orchard Hills which is a centre for training people from disadvantages backgrounds. The Foundation assists by contributing to the support of costs associated with the shelters, services and activities generally.

BLACK DOG INSTITUTE

The Black Dog Institute was founded in 2002 and is internationally recognised as a pioneer in the identification, prevention and treatment of mental illness, and the promotion of wellbeing. The Institute works directly in all parts of the community as well as guiding the development of new and improved policy.

They place focus on those with specific mental health needs like young people, Indigenous communities, men, and high-risk workforces. The Franciscan Roche Foundation has contributed to their direct programs and will continue to do so.
